The TalkJared’s POV
Usually I’m not the type to get drug into dumb plans, I’ve always thought of myself as a reasonably cool and collected guy, but Carly said she needed some muscle, and no one had ever called me the muscle before so I think I only agreed because in that moment I was very flattered and probably would have done anything the girl had told me to do. That’s something I have to get checked out, girls affect me too easily. I swear I think I would do anything Holiday told me to do if she was wearing shorts when she asked.
Carly and I were both stalking around camp looking for any sign of a girl with scabbed knees and a sunburnt face. It had been a few days since we had been given “the talk” and we hadn’t seen hide or hair of the girl which was surprising considering how damn loud she always thought she had to be.
Carly I knew was near the Apollo cabin checking out a possible sighting on Lilly and I was supposed to be looking for Jake because

I can’t do it anymore, my lungs are burning, sweat is running down my face and my legs are screaming at me telling me what an absurd idiot I am. My breathing is ragged and I stop to take a few deep breaths squinting up ahead at the girls who are pretty far ahead of me. One of them, with a sloppy ponytail and a dirt smeared sunburnt face turned around and looked back at me in shock.
“What in Hades are you doing back there?” She asked tilting her head quizzically.
I offered her a sheepish smile and tried feebly. “It’s a n-n-nice v-view, don’t you think?”
Lilly rolled her eyes and in a dry voice said. “It’s breathtaking. Seriously I am in awe of the back of the Demeter cabin. Come on! The rainbow is right ahead of us!” I sighed in exhaustion wishing my friends would stop doing this to me. Against my free will I started jogging again, only to stop a few seconds later when I passed a blonde girl who was walking

“And then…the horse, and the frog…and the weird crab thing fell into the ocean…and lived happily ever?” Jared shrugged his shoulders looking at a loss for what to say.
I stared at him in shock for a moment before saying slowly. “Wow…you’re awful at t-t-telling stories.”
“I didn’t think it was that bad.” He said defensively crossing his arms behind his neck. “I mean it was somewhat realistic and there wasn’t any death in it.”
“B-But they all fell into the ocean.” I pointed out slowly and Jared rolled his eyes.
“Ok fine, they’re like fish animal things then. They can breathe underwater.”
“I don’t know! Because they feel like it!” He snapped and crossed his arms his eyes narrowing. After a moment he relaxed and sighed looking towards the window. “It’s still raining.”
A Hard Day“Can you get her?” I ask Mikhail, running to grab the last shopping cart from the sidewalk. Mikhail opens the van door and helps Emily out of her booster seat. Emily clings onto my boyfriend, and rests her head on his shoulder. She’s only three, and a real terror. She’s also my sister, but sometimes it feels like she’s my daughter.
Her real mom left her at Camp Half-Blood, knowing exactly who her father was. Her mom was only 18 when she gave birth. I loathe my father even more now.
“Can I have a small cart?” Emily asks, looking at another kid that walks out with their family, wheeling on of the baby shopping carts with the big flag poles sticking out at the top.
“Yes you can.” Mikhail places her down, and pats his pocket for his list.
“Do we really need to be here?” I ask him, helping Emily grab one of the baby carts.
“Yes. We need more supplies of wood for the forge. And some too
